1. Purpose and scope
These Guidelines explain how Trevio Affiliates may promote their referral link and Trevio's services. They form part of the Trevio Affiliate Terms and Conditions. Breaching them is a breach of the Terms.
They apply wherever you share your link or talk about Trevio: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and other messaging apps, email, your own website or blog, videos, events and printed materials. They apply to your own posts, posts using Trevio's marketing kit, and paid advertising.
You may use the materials in the Trevio marketing kit (available in the portal) or create your own content, as long as it follows these Guidelines.
The golden rules
2. Disclosure and advertising permits
Disclose every time
Every post, story, video, ad or message that includes your link or promotes Trevio must be clearly marked as an ad and show that you are a Trevio Affiliate. The disclosure must be:
- Visible without clicking. Put it at the start of a caption, on screen in a video or story, or in the first lines of a message, not hidden in a long list of hashtags or behind "more".
- In clear words. Start with "Ad | Trevio Affiliate". Hashtags such as #ad and #TrevioAffiliate can be added, but "Trevio Affiliate" on its own is not enough, because many people don't know what an affiliate is.
- Using platform tools too, such as Instagram's "Paid partnership" label or TikTok's "Branded content" toggle, where available.
UAE Advertiser Permit
UAE law requires people who publish advertising or promotional content on digital platforms from within the UAE to hold an Advertiser Permit from the UAE Media Council (or any authority that replaces it). This can apply to affiliate marketing, whether or not you see yourself as an influencer.
It is your responsibility to check whether you need a permit and to hold one if you do. Trevio may ask to see your permit and may suspend your link if you are required to hold one and do not. If you are unsure, check with the UAE Media Council before promoting your link on social media.
3. What you can and can't say
Mortgages are a regulated financial product, and misleading claims can harm customers and Trevio. Keep your content factual and general.
Testimonials. Don't post reviews, quotes or results from other customers, or invent them. Use only testimonials Trevio provides in the kit.
Questions from followers. If someone asks about their eligibility, rates or documents, don't answer. Direct them to your link so Trevio's team can help.
Approved disclaimer
Add this to any content that mentions rates, loan amounts or eligibility, and to all paid ads:
Ad | Trevio Affiliate. Trevio is a mortgage brokerage, not a lender. All financing is subject to bank approval, terms and conditions.
4. Branding and identity
You promote Trevio as an independent Affiliate. Your content and accounts must make that clear.
- Logo and brand assets. Use only the logos, images and templates in the Trevio marketing kit. Don't change their colours or proportions, or combine them with other brands' logos.
- Account names. Don't use "Trevio" in your account name, username, page name, website domain or email address (for example, @TrevioMortgages or treviohomeloans.com).
- Profile pictures. Don't use the Trevio logo as your profile picture or cover image.
- No impersonation. Don't create content, profiles, groups or websites that look as if they are run by Trevio or any bank.
- Bank names and logos. Don't use bank logos. You may mention that Trevio works with UAE banks, but don't name a bank or suggest it endorses you unless the kit does.
Sensitive content. Don't place Trevio content alongside material that is offensive, political, religious, adult, or otherwise breaks UAE media standards.
5. Channel rules
The rules above apply everywhere. These add specifics for each channel.
Instagram and Facebook
- Put your link in your bio, link sticker or link-in-bio page, with the disclosure in the caption or on the story.
- Turn on the "Paid partnership" label where available.
- Don't post your link in comments on other people's posts, or in groups whose rules forbid promotion.
- Don't buy followers, likes or comments, or use engagement pods to boost Trevio content.
TikTok and YouTube
- Say you are a Trevio Affiliate out loud or on screen near the start of the video, not only in the description.
- Turn on TikTok's "Branded content" toggle, or YouTube's "includes paid promotion" setting.
- Keep financial explanations general. If a video discusses rates or eligibility, show the approved disclaimer on screen.
- Don't stitch, duet or react to other creators' videos to promote your link without their permission.
- Post from your personal profile. Don't create a company page that looks like Trevio's.
- Don't send unsolicited connection requests or InMails whose only purpose is to push your link.
- Show the disclosure in the post itself, not only in your profile.
WhatsApp and direct messages
- Only message people who know you or have asked you for information. No cold messaging, bulk broadcasts or purchased contact lists.
- Don't add people to WhatsApp groups or broadcast lists without their agreement.
- Stop messaging anyone who asks you to, straight away.
- Start your first message with the disclosure, for example: "Ad | Trevio Affiliate. Trevio is a mortgage brokerage that can help you compare home finance options. Here's my link if you'd like their team to contact you."
- Don't ask for or accept documents, ID, salary details or bank statements in messages. Send people your link instead (see Section 7).
6. Paid advertising
You may run paid ads and boosted posts with your referral link on any platform, at your own cost, as long as you follow these rules:
- No bidding on the Trevio name. Don't bid on "Trevio", "gotrevio" or any misspelling or variation as a keyword, or target them in any ad platform.
- Your identity, not Trevio's. The ad account, page name and display name must be yours. Don't use "Trevio" in an ad headline, display URL or advertiser name in a way that suggests Trevio is running the ad.
- Same content rules. Every ad must follow Sections 2 to 4 and include the approved disclaimer.
- Platform policies. Follow each platform's rules for financial services ads, including any required special ad category, verification or restrictions on targeting.
- Fair targeting. Don't target or exclude people by nationality, religion, ethnicity, gender or other protected characteristics.
- Landing page. Ads must send people to your Trevio referral link, or to your own page that clearly identifies you as an Affiliate and links to it. Don't build landing pages that copy Trevio's website.
- Permit. Paid ads count as advertising content for the UAE Advertiser Permit (Section 2).
Trevio does not reimburse ad spend, and you are responsible for any ad account or platform penalties.
7. Leads, privacy and enforcement
Handling leads
- The best way to refer someone is to send them your referral link so they enter their own details.
- If you submit someone manually in the portal, take only their name, mobile number and email address, and only with their permission to be contacted by Trevio.
- Don't collect, store, screenshot or forward anyone's documents, ID, salary, bank or credit information. Trevio collects these directly.
- Don't post screenshots of conversations, approvals or portal data about any customer.
- Don't share leads you receive through Trevio with any other broker or business.
Review and takedown
Trevio may review any content you publish to promote your link. If Trevio asks you to edit or remove content, you must do so within 48 hours. If you're unsure whether a post is acceptable, email it to us before publishing and we will let you know.
Breaches
Depending on how serious or repeated a breach is, Trevio may:
- Ask you to correct or remove the content.
- Treat Referrals generated through the breaching content as invalid, with no Commission payable.
- Suspend or deactivate your referral link.
- Withhold or recover Commission, or end your Affiliate account, under the Terms and Conditions.
Updates
Trevio may update these Guidelines at any time. The current version is always available in the portal, and we will notify Affiliates of significant changes.
